Another periodic update…

Published by Mugwug at 08:14:16 under General

We’re all still here.

At present the entire household is sick, again, knocking the pace of things down a few notches. There have been a few minor developments, the replacement of my 17″ CRT with a 15″ LCD I picked up for $85, the upgrade of our internet from highspeed “light” to normal highspeed and the accompanying upgrade of the modem and so forth. I’ve gutted our install of XP trying to remove some of the clutter, but may have to finally admit that it’s a lost cause and just format and reinstall everything. It needs to be done, as using the computer is a pain in the posterior right now, and makes even my limited blogging a serious nuisance.

As far as the projects go, we’ve a collection of wire, connectors and plans but no energy to combine them at this point.

Sound about right?

Yeah - the problem with Windows, ever since Win/95, is that it ‘never forgets anything’ … especially difficult to get crap out of the system registry.

But starting with a fresh image and reinstalling everything (especially if the original CD is not where you left it!) is no day at the beach either.

Hope your colds, or whatever, start to settle down soon - now that the weather is finally starting to behave more like spring!

    Isn’t 15″ kind of small?
Don’t get me wrong LCD Vs. CRT is a big improvement, but it’s like a laptop screen, no?
Maybe it’s the stress of your “Redneck” neighbors that’s got everyone sick.

    MugWug:

I upgraded my entire system about a month ago. I have an LCD which is a big improvement over the CRT; Quad-core processor; 4GB of RAM. You will appreicate the LCD, I think. Also, I’m using Vista, and have had no problems as of yet. I’d recommend sticking with XP for now, as it is a stable OS.

In the past when I had W2K for an OS, I used “registry clean expert” to keep the registry fresh and it worked great. Look for it on the web.
