The Omaha Shooting

Published by Mugwug at 06:42:48 under Stupid Human Tricks

Not only a zombie movie connoisseur, gun owner, member of the Zombie Squad and frequent identifier of my more obscure zombie motivational posters, Grifter can put together quite an articulate rant.

…They will call for more laws against the civil rights of all Americans in spite of the fact that there were already laws that would have prevented young Hawkins from possessing a firearm…had he obeyed them. Local records show Hawkins had a felony drug conviction on his record as well as several misdemeanor cases filed against him…

..There are in fact laws and rules. But laws and rules are only for the good, as the bad never pay them any mind to begin with. There were laws keeping Hawkins from having a rifle, yet they failed. There were laws keeping Hawkins from killing so many people. But, as in Virginia, Tacoma, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Columbine, the law failed, as it will always fail…

He’s summed up precisely what I was thinking when I watched the news reports, slide on over and give the entire post a read.

All the legislation in the world will not prevent sociopaths from acting out. Knee-jerk legislation is a political distraction, and does not address the real problems, which are social and cultural.

With over 200 million firearms in circulation in the US, and a half-million being stolen each year, what surprises me is not that these are these shooting incidents, but that there are not more of them.

“With over 200 million firearms in circulation in the US, and a half-million being stolen each year”……
That’s only the legal guns and reported thefts…
Lets not forget the illegally imported, homemade and never registered.

You flatter me Mugger but that article was not my creation. It was written by Gabe Suarez of Suarez International U.S.A. Inc.

Suarez runs a training school in Prescott, AZ (which is about an hour north of me) where he teaches just about everything from defensive pistol techniques to squad based rifle gunfighting.

Right, because the insane are so worried about being law abiding citizens. There are 300 million guns owned in the US. A miniscule percent of a percentage point have ever harmed anyone. Honestly, you have a better chance of being bitten by a zombie than getting shot with an assault rifle at a mall.

Of course, the morons can’t do the math that 80 million US gun owners, who are law abiding citizens, are NOT the deadly menace to society that they think they are. They made a non-issue of AP ammunition into more gunshot wounds to the head for police officers. They banned cosmetic attachments on semi-automatic rifles and when the downsurge in violent firearms usage started YEARS before the ban, they swept that under the rug.

Junk science and bad logic make these idiots’ worlds go ’round.

Grif: Damn google reader! Never even saw the attribution there. The entry has been updated to reflect the correct author. Good write-up none the less.

Applying the logic of most anti-gun activists, commercial air travel should have been banned on 12-SEP-2001.

Applying the logic of anti-gun activists, commercial air travel would have been banned when the Hindenberg blew up.

anti-gun activists use logic? I thought they relied almost exclusively on the chicken little school of emotional rhetoric.
