More Sig P220 gun pron…
I am not going to be able to make it to the range today as I’ve too much administrivia to take care of around the house. I figured I’d be mucking around with the firearms none the less (overdue to go through the cabinet and detail strip everything anyway) so I took the opportunity this morning, during a half hour lull in activity, to snap a few pics of my pride and joy, the 9mmP Sig P220.

More below the cut, click on image for the full size version.

The other items in the picture are from my uniform (even though the handgun is definately NOT part of my duty gear), and the first aid patch was included in the shot for an ironic tone.

Not bad photos as far as I can tell (improvement over last time anyway), but some constructive criticism is always welcomed.
I’ll take it.
Take it? You’re going to have to, ’cause I sure ain’t giving it away.

Have you thought of adding “Laser-Grips” to your piece? It would make “shooting by feel” that much easier when you can just point and shoot. It would also make it easier to hit a zombie with a head shot whenever you find them sneaking up behind you…in the dark. Less wasted shots, more ammo left in reserve for when you really need it - like when they figure out how to use their numbers - and each other - as battering rams.
[…] Sig 220 […]
The P220 is standard issue for U.S. Secret Service protective details. Nice weapon. At least 9mm is reasonably priced ammunition as far as centerfire goes.
Can you imagine what it costs to keep a Desert Eagle .50AE in candy?
Keep shooting, Erik. The Zombocalypse is coming!
Patrick: Nah… nothing fancy, the pistol is fairly accurate when I’m shooting, and I’m certain the money would be better spent on ammunition or perhaps sourcing just ONE MORE MAGAZINE for it.

Trust me, if and when the zombocalypse comes, if I’m relying on my sidearm things are getting pretty damn desperate already.
Carbonman: You sure about the P220? I thought they were using the P226 or some other double stack decendant of the P220?
Regardless the Sig is a thing of beauty. My first, and without reservation my favorite handgun. Comfortable, simple and reliable. The only down side is that damn magazine problem (finding spare magazines for a North American mag release 9mm Sig P220 is MURDER) and that is why I own three magazines for this handgun.
Grrr….
“De-cock”!!!!
I honestly don’t know which scares me more. You owning a Sig or you being certified* to do First Aid. In case it ever comes up, if my options are death or you doing first aid on me, I choose death.
*Note: I said “certified”, not “qualified”.
I think the plainclothes protective details had P220s, but you may be right. It was a long time ago. I remember that it fit my hand very nicely and concealed under a summer shirt. (Then again, I can work with any mayhem-producing device. You should see what I can do to bureaucrats with email and a cc list…)
BTW your pictures are exceptional. Photographing black on black is tough to get right. Your first aid badge isn’t too blasted out either, just a little highlight flare and still identifiable color.
It’s a little thing, but I prefer the look of handguns with a completely flat, right-angled square front like the Sig, USP, and my Para. The extra angles and flatness of the Sig and the USP is a bonus.
Mike I am in total agreement with you on this, I find the lines of the Sig more more appealing asthetically than the Beretta.
Strange that the Glock doesn’t inspire anything in me I guess.
Great shots!
I think it’s because since the 90’s we’ve been so inundated with Glocks they’ve become generic and boring. That and we just plum don’t like the things.
Mike, I think you’re spot on there.
