Mechwarrior - Old games revisited

Published by Mugwug at 10:01:07 under General

Mechwarrior

Mike had a post about this old game, which I remember playing avidly (as I recall, not one person I knew who played this ever followed the story line, and merely ran amok in the universe acquiring mechs and wealth).

You can play it again (as discovered by Theodore) by downloading DosBox0.61 and then downloading the original Mechwarrior game here. It’s not without problems of course. My copy crashes whenever I try to save the game, Mike’s copy seems to crash whenever he finishes a mission which makes gameplay a little less fun.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Just googling around I found these pages, hope they help:

Also I’ve seen that setting he computer speed in the emultion slower might help. If I ever get a second to actually play it myself I’ll see what i can do.

I ended playing Wing Commander instead. I’m good at that, but try as I might my Jenner keeps getting blasted to crap on my first mission.

    Ah the old days…

I actually followed to storyline and beat the game back on my 386. It kicked ass! I went on to play all the other mechwarrior games except for 4. Too busy then. In time I might get around to it.

Good old wing commander. That brings back some memories as well. I think i did I and II.

My personal favorites were the Eye of the Beholder series I, II, and III. II was by far the best.

Oh yeah, Dragon Strike was a great Dragon flight simulator back in the day as well.

    Ahh the memories
