An event filled day yesterday…
Ran significantly short on sleep yesterday, another one of those “Ah hell, I’ve gone without sleep before.” days where I regret my words before I’ve finished uttering them.
Family arrived to check out the new digs, taking the tour, socializing and showering us with house warming gifts. A quick two hour nap and then I was off to work for a nice relaxing twelve hour night shift, with a two hour (round trip) commute. Suffice to say on my return home this morning I collapsed into bed lamenting my lost youth, and the ability to go for extended periods without sleep.
It was great to see the family, although our little home never seemed quite so little before. The heat was no big help either.
It’s unfair to single out a single house warming gift, but I’ll do it none the less. Among the gardening supplies and clothes and toys for Jilly was a large rectangular wrapped gift for me. Openning it I found the framed piece pictured below;

“Follow the leader” by Dick Kramer.
Now to say I was taken with this gift is understating things a bit, it already resides above my desk. Browsing Dick Kramers website I think I can see a few other pieces that might find themselves at home in my workshop when I get that project completed.
Yeah, yeah, your life is hard. But more importantly did anyone get any pictures of our kids together?
Is the commute eased at all by the fact that it’s “your” house you’re coming home to, that does it for me.
Ayup…cameras were snapping like mad, Linda got a few pics of Jilly and Wesley, I’m going to have to harrass her for copies (lord knows I forgot to get my camera out at all).
Yes, driving “HOME” takes the sting out of the commute. Harry Potter helps for the drive. The audio books have been keeping me going.
Hmmmm … t’would appear that your aunts know you well
Kramer’s quite a draughtsman, but I still prefer Peter Rotter … http://peterrotter.com/portfolio.html
If you like audiobooks Indigo is having quite a sale on them currently; or at least the one at Kennedy Commons is(is that the name of the mall Ted? Did I finally learn the name of something around here?)
Dad: Ayup…too well it seems.
-GRIN-
Rotters stuff looks good, but not exactly the “gun’ish” decorative style I had envisioned for the workshop, ya know?
Brenda:Yep, Kennedy Commons is Kennedy and the 401. Sounds right.
Not a huge fan of audio books in general, takes longer to read them when someone else is doing the reading, but as reading while driving 100km/h is generally frowned on by agents of the state they’ve served recently to keep me somewhat alert for the drive back and forth to Toronto recently.
Might have to check out the local indigo (there must be one around here somewhere!) and see what they have.
It is Kennedy Commons, but technically it’s a Chapters still.
I thought it was “Chapters-Indigo” officially.
Not like it really matters anyway.
Yeah yeah, whatever, TED. It says Chapters on the sign above the door, but ever sticker, receipt, poster, recommendation says INDIGO. Why am I arguing with you online again anyway? You’re sitting three feet behind me.
Ya know, it just occured to me why I like this photo so much. It’s like a Baldrick-esque thing where as long as those guys are hanging on my wall, they’re not knocking on my door.
Maybe it’s just me.
