And we’re back…
The move went smoothly enough, certainly better than expected. We spent a few extra bucks and hired Quick Boys Moving instead of “Two functional illiterates with a truck” this time around. The difference was staggering. The truck (and three movers) arrived twenty minutes early, began loading exactly at 09:00 and finished at 10:00. They arrived at the new place at 12:00 and finished unloading at 13:00hrs, total cost for the move came in $100 under their estimate (even with the tip included).

Once the movers departed Lisa and I began unpacking like mad in preparation for Jillys return today. step-dad Chris came by and sank his teeth into replacing our kitchen faucet (and connecting the washing machine properly). Mom, Dad and KD also stopped in (often more than once) to offer help in various forms.

The unpacking continued at a reasonable pace, with both of us nearing exhaustion, well into the night. At 21:00hrs we finally called it quicks, took a quick break and then resumed unpacking. The morning saw the end of the bulk of the organization and Jilly-proofing of the ground floor, with the second floor habitable but still showing numerous examples of cardboard. The basement has been almost entirely populated with partially unpacked boxes and the like.

The pics are just a quick sampling of the ground floor, where we can call our efforts mainly complete.
Ok…things to do, things to do.
I can’t believe you are almost done unpacking. We still have boxes packed from two moves ago.
Of course, that was the move where things became heated between us and our land-lady so we packed up anything of value we could live without and hid them at anyone’s house that had room. Just in case we came home to padlocks on the doors.
I just wanted to say I am in awe of you guys.
Ayup… if it’s any consolation we had about 5 boxes that were still packed from our last apartment sitting in the current one. Mainly books, it seems I own too many books.
Ah hell, I appreciate the kind words but we just wanted it to be a home, quickly, and be ready for Jillys return without each of us gettting hoarse yelling “Jilly, No!” as she tries to eat things that were left lying around.
Ah…thank God this thing is almost over.
I meant to ask yesterday, do the new custom-built bookshelves come with anti-Jilly doors?
Oh and I totally expect pics of her exploring her new digs. ‘k? (I’m not the least bit demanding )
Very nice, folks. You done great! It will be great to actually have some space that you can lay things out.
I’m still dumbfounded at how fast you unpacked and set things up. Do you teach courses in this stuff? We are still at the sorting stage of unpacking, and we’ve been moved for 2 months today.
Ah Carbonman I think I love you
(shhh…. don’t tell Ted)
Glad to know I am not the only perpetual unpacker.
Hey Brenda, we seem to get unpacked enough to function reasonably well, then charge right on to the next challenge/crisis. I’m not sure if it’s ADD or masochism.
I’m unpacked, but haven’t hung an pictures up yet.
The bummer is when I have to move again I have a freakin’ sofa-bed that weighs more than Allister.
CM: Ah the boxes thing drives me nuts. I’ve always been a big fan of “culling and packing”, but as you get down to the wire we seem to start packing everything and not just the things we want to keep.
We have about 9-10 boxes now sitting in the basement, a few of which we’ll be keeping (books and so forth), a few others which need to be combined into single boxes and a few which need to be dumped at the curb.
Organizing the basement is lowest on the priority scale, but still there.
Mike: Get movers, honestly.
Always something *else* that needs attention
No kidding. The list grows as it shrinks.
Your new place looks awesome! We can’t wait to visit. Give Lisa and Jilly and squeeze.
Thanks Heather! Didn’t know you came by here, also didn’t know you had a blog of your own. It’s been a day of discovery.

Consider Lisa and Jilly squeezed, and we’re eagerly awaiting a visit from you guys!
Hey,
Great news, your new house looks great.Hope you and the family are incredibly happy in it! Really great break on the movers, not like last time. Keep in touch and let me know when Jilly is big enough to wear my clothes, should be what, another year or two? I have piles of them here waiting for her.
Hey TMD!
Ah c’mon now, it’ll be at least two years before she’s ready for your hand me downs.
Yep, the house is a trip. I’m still coming to terms with it. I’m sure it’ll sink in soon enough. One thing I’ve noticed already, it’s REALLY nice to he able to watch a movie or type at the computer without waking up both Jilly and Lisa.

Did you actually pack everything you own for the move this time or did you have to pick and choose (what would fit in the car) like you did the night before you left Vancouver oh so long ago? *GRIN*
By the way Mon, can you send me your new address? I’d like to send a few items out your way (like I’d meant to some months ago *SHEEPISH GRIN*)!
I’ve got a new website. supertuk.com -Check it out when you get the time.
Hehe, nah no stuffing the belongings into the car and tossing the rest. We took almost everything this time around.
Did some culling while packing, but there are still some “borderline” objects in boxes in the basement.
Address has been sent.

Supertuk.com doesn’t seem to be working for me, a quick whois confirms the url, but there seems to be a problem with your host.
