News, of a sort.

Published by Mugwug at 15:02:02 under House Stuff

Ladies and gentlemen I have just been informed that we now own 28.5% of a house. The deal has closed.

I’d pontificate a bit here, but we still have packing to do.

[And for the record, I could have attended ZombieCon, all the problems we encountered were of the “last minute” variety. Irritating.]

Enjoy your new house Erik. Just think that this will be your last move for a while.
    Congrats

Did you get your key yet???? Key transfer day is the worst. All day waiting for a key that was supposed to be there hours ago, and why? You are having nightmares of the deal falling through, suddenly leaving you home and apartmentless….

Of course in our case the key was late because the sellers were trying to pull and illegal scam. Loosers. Did they really think if they put a lien on the house after we signed the deal no one would notice? Ummmm…. sure neither set of lawyers would notice.

Anyway, hope all the annoyance resolved favourably.

Hey do you need a plunger, we have a spare

Congrats on the new house. I’ll drop by next weekend. I expect all unpacking to not be done and there to be something heavy and likely dripping that you’ll have been putting off moving until somebody drops by.

Dan: Thanks man! Trust me, after this I don’t even want to hear the word “move”.

Brenda (Posing as Theodore): Actually the keys were easy for us. I just had Mom pick them up, we’d been out there the day before closing to sign the paperwork and do a last minute inspection of the house, and damned if we were keen on driving a few hundred km just to collect keys.

Waiting for the deal to close was killer, of course we have no cell phones (Dear lord, I hate cell phones, but one would have been handy on Friday), and needed to do all sorts of errands and running around - thankfully our realtor acted as the communications point, and we just checked in with her every hour and half or so to see if the deal had closed. It closed minutes before I posted this entry in fact, so solid was my relief.

    Uh, no plunger thanks.

Brenda (as herself): No worries, stupid cookies.

Greg: We’re looking forward to seeing you. Honestly. No, seriously. We should be unpacked by then, but there are more than enough home-repair tasks slated to keep everyone busy.

A range trip qualifies as home repairs right?
