I get the odd email recommending zombie movies, or asking if I’ve ever heard of a zombie film.

To simplify matters I’ll post a link to the Zombie Movie List that I maintain to try and keep it all straight in my head. The list is not entirely complete, as there are some borderline movies that I’ve ignored (they stay off my zombie movie shelf, relegated to an existence on the lesser DVD shelves).

Feel free to make suggestions, I typically add a zombie movie or two to the stack each month. The viewing I’m keeping pace with, it’s the reviews that I’m falling WAY behind in.

Private Robert Costall of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and an as yet unnamed US Soldier were among the dead yesterday in fighting with Taliban forces in Afghanistan.

Private Costall was the 12th Canadian Soldier killed in Afghanistan since our troops have been deployed there.

Words entirely fail to accurately capture my feelings, so please join me in a moment of quiet reflection for both Private Robert Costalls sacrifice, and for the continued service and dedication of the men and women of our armed forces.

Mayor Miller is once again making noise about his solution to Torontos gun crime issue and is again calling on Prime Minister Harper to impose Millers sole solution, his (often) proposed gun ban. Further he now expects Harper to push the same on the US in the upcoming meeting between Bush and Harper.

(This issue was so important that I couldn’t find a single article in any online source about it, despite the fact it was repeated twice on AM 680 News during this mornings commute.)

I can only assume that the lack of both media coverage and support for this “ban” is indicative of its popularity.

My suggestion, enjoy your single term as mayor Mr. Miller.

A man fatally shot six people at a party in a Seattle home on Saturday before killing himself with a pistol-grip shotgun after being confronted by police, authorities said…

…Police said there had been no threats or arguments before the suspect left the house party in a residential neighborhood shortly before 7 a.m. and retrieved a shotgun and semi-automatic handgun from his nearby truck. He spray-painted “now” in several locations in the neighborhood before shooting two people outside the home, police said…

…Police said it appeared everybody had been at a “zombie”-themed dance in the neighborhood earlier that night and came to the scene of the shooting to continue the party.

Well my days off are finished. Tonight I will once again don my polyester crime fighting outfit and roam the city streets in a striped car.

My blog updates continue to be infrequent, and this is merely a reflection of my online time. Right now Lisa and I continue to work opposite rotations at work, which means that between us we are working every day of the week (I work half, she works half) on twelve hour night shifts. Daycare for Jilly has been coming together, but this has offered us little more than a respite from sleep deprivation on our “change-over” days.

Things are improving, and a routine of sorts seems to be imposing itself of the chaos.

Zombie Movies:
I’ve got a growing stack of 20+ zombie films with reviews pending, I hope to get a chance to tuck into them shortly. There are a few gems in there that deserve some attention, along with a few stinkers that deserve ridicule.

Firearms:
Some new developments here as well, with the possible trade of the CZ52 for a Norc 1911 (Can you say PROJECT GUN!, I knew ya could), and the further possibility of a trade/acquisition of an AR180B. Some other juggling may be in the works, we’ll have to wait and see.

With the acquisition of a new laptop there is the chance of taking my old P233 out to the range and seeing what error message shows up (if any) when exposed to 5.56×45mm or 7.62×39mm fire.

A quick trip to visit Theodore, Brenda and new addition Wesley yesterday. Jillian got a taste of the new cuteness competition in the family.

A nice visit, bringing back lots of memories of Jilly when she was really, really wee.

Oh yes, that’s right folks. ZombieCon is upon us yet again. This time I fully plan on being present for a few days of camping, zombie movies and survival related events.

Only a few spots are left, so if you’re interested you’d be well advised to get in touch with the organizers now. If not, then I promise to bring my digital camera along to record the festivities.

I talked a fair bit about my Danners in this post, but it’s only fair to take a moment to throw some much deserved recognition to my “other” boots.

I used to wear the Danners every day, on-duty and off, but as they started to wear I restricted their use to my on-duty hours. This created a need for a second pair of boots (I own four pairs of assorted footwear. Two pairs of boots, one pair dress shoes and one pair brand shiny new, never worn running shoes). Being me I headed for the surplus store and found a pair of Canadian Forces Desert Boots for $30 (Making them approximately 1/10th the cost of the Danners by the way).

I figured what the hell, thats pretty much a “throw away” price, if they didn’t work out I could scrap them or relegate them to trunk duty. Boy was I in for a shock. The boots rocked. Comfortable, light and durable. I’m not sure what the consensus is from our soldiers, but I easily got my moneys worth out of them.

Coming up on a year now, and they’re holding up just fine.

..the accident in which Dotson veered into the median and over-corrected, rolling her truck over the guardrail and landing upside down after flipping several times…

Tragic!

…Sheila Vice, a nurse’s aide, and an off-duty EMT from another county stopped to help, and put a tourniquet on Dotson’s arm to stop the bleeding. Her arm was found near the accident still clutching a cell phone…

Uh…does this qualify as a self inflicted injury?
