I mentioned the car thing to an associate here at work, and you what really bugs me? Just how PO'd people get when you tell them their gas-guzzling, superfluous SUV is as much of a liberty to own as a handgun, and likely more dangerous. "But Mike, it's completely different if someone steals my car and kills people with it. That wouldn't be my fault." Somehow, if my Para got stolen, I might as well have pulled the trigger instead of the person who fired the shot.
Gun owners need the automotive industry's PR guys...

Too bad the bad guys have that startling lead in anti-nerf technology, we should ban nerf research before our efforts are ruined!

Not to mention swimming pools, tall buildings, every other form of transportation, pesticides and herbicides. And people - we'd have to ban people too. If it saves just one life...

I had a long conversation with my Dad about "Saving one life." It was concerning the 4th and 5th amendment.

He sided with the idea that it's okay to circumvent the 4th amendment in order to say one life. I contended that it's never okay to gut the freedom of all for the security of one, and if one person dies as a result of it, as callous as it sounds, then that's the price we have to pay to live in a (semi)free society.
