Ah-ha, a criminal no more!
Well, after weekly phone calls, and all manner of noisemaking my FrankenGarand is finally, officially registered as a complete and functional firearm.
A mere 4 1/2 months to get this done. I have to admit, this sort of headache should easily deter criminals from registering their firearms, maybe it’s all worth it in the end.
Well, well … a Christmas present from the feds, eh?!
Are you going to send them an invoice, billing ‘em for all the hours you’ve spent on this ?
Just in time for them to take it away.
Uh, Whatcha talking about Dan?
Uh, Whatcha talking about Dan?
I won’t speak for Dan, but there are rumblings that Martin may expand the ban to include all firearms.
Hmm, those rumblings I have not heard until now. Are they credible rumblings?
A total ban on firearms is simply not plausible.
It’s important to try and undertand the game the Liberal strategists are playing here. My suspicion is that, should the Liberals get back in, even the handgun ban will quietly slip to the back burner.
It helps to look at how the polls break down on this issue. Although opinion nationally is about 50/50, support is very high (over 70%) in Toronto and Vancouver … riding clusters which the Liberals must capture to have any chance of forming the next government.
So, simply political opportunism, playing to the fears of urban voters.

Oh, I did not hear the rumors. I’m just stating that other countries have gone down this road before and look at the end result. UK and Australia come to mind. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope that I am. Spend the money on more cops and jails and enforce the laws that we already have.
My 2 cents
Well, rumours aside, for the time being I’ve heard no plans for a total ban, and the framework proposed by Martin hardly seems the one likely to end private firearms ownership.
I’m more concerned about my restricted weapons (the pistols and the AR) than the unrestricted as it stands.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see, like so many other things, only time will tell.
