Crackheads, zombies, commies, the french, no wait, I already said commies, people who support proportional representation voting systems, republicans, chicken farmers, grown men who cry(Exception made for men who have genitalia stuck between metal objects), people who drink decaffinated beverages or de-alcoholized beer, people who drive giant pick-up trucks that have never seen any form of mud, hippies…damn, no, they are all commies, so we’ve already covered that…and people who just generally piss me off.

See now, the cynic in me wants to meet that one person and make a very detailed determination if their life is, indeed, worth saving. I somehow doubt that the one crackhead we saved from being gunned down would have been greatly missed in any case.

These numbers come as no surprise to anyone who’s spent any time in the commercial IT industry. Breitkreuz’ point is well taken …
IT development costs for the Registry should have been in the order of more like $10 million.

But who are the ‘villains’ in this piece?

SHL, EDS, CGI and BDP are notorious for extracting every possible penny out of their clients, driving costs well over their initial
contract prices under the guise of ‘change requests’. But, from the outset, these contractors controlled the development process.
After all, that’s why the government contracted with such large ‘competent’ corporations.

Instead what we received for our tax dollars was a bunch of crap that was, “… expensive, inflexible, out-of-date, and could not be modified at a reasonable costs to support future operations.” (statement from the Justice department, 2001).

Meanwhile, the contractors were laughing all the way to the bank because the governement had contracted for ’services’, rather than ‘results’. And it ain’t over, yet, folks!

Pathetic, really
