Our home, then and now…

We are in the process of selling our home. We have painted, polished and plastered. We have cleaned, culled and packed. The end result seems pretty good, and I thought I would share it with you as a sort of then and now comparison.

The exterior really hasn’t changed very much at all. We added a the glass brick window to the shed, put up the small flagpole and installed some cameras (they’re low profile so you shouldn’t notice them), but otherwise the exterior appearance is as when we bought the place.

The living room is another story, the floors we redid in early 2009 with bamboo, also toning down the color scheme significantly (the predominant colors throughout the house were dark brown trim with light brown walls). Wiring upgrades involved installing two cable outlets, two network outlets and a proper telephone outlet (to replace the dollar store extension cord run through the ductwork that was in place when we moved in).

The dining room got the same floor and paint treatment as the living room. It was also wired with a cable and network outlet.

The Kitchen was a more recent effort, replacing the cabinet hardware, light fixture, copious quantities of paint and redoing the counters seemed to give it a good facelift (oh and just for completeness, the kitchen got a network/cable/phone jack installed as well).

The master bedroom was once, ages past, two rooms. The common wall had been knocked through and they had sealed one door (by nailing it shut) leaving the other operational. We took out the door and walled the doorway up, painted out the old colors and had the carpet replaced. Modern wiring also added.

There are a lot more “details”, but I don’t have before and after photos so you’ll just have to take my word for it that we’ve spruced things up a bit.
