Girls night in.

Published by at 12:19:16 under Baby Blogging

Last night we hosted a sleepover for our daughter and my two sisters. Pizza, popcorn, chemical break lights, sleeping bags and movies abounded. Much noise was generated, the bulk of it laughter.

Jilly and Carolina in a sleeping bag!

As a parent it was tiring, spending an equal amount of time as entertainment director and peacekeeper, but watching my daughter run around giggling like a maniac made every second worthwhile.

The fact that zombies featured prominently into the evening didn’t hurt either (The movie of choice for the girls was, again, “Scooby Doo on Zombie Island”), reinforced by me trying to sneak in a quick game of Operation Flashpoint with the Farmland Mod Horror Pack finally installed (Uh, that means zombies instead of Russians as the enemy) which ended up being a team effort as the girls gleefully pointed out zombies threatening to over run my position.

How much does counselling cost again? Just trying to budget for the future.

Tee hee — those lucky little gals. Is Jilly looking forward to trick-or-treating?

Sounds like you’re getting into regular weekend-off stuff with your new schedule…

Sounds like pajama party was a big success … Jilly will, of course, expect even more of these in the future! LOL!!

The only thing I can’t figure out is why your still playing “Flashpoint”,
that games got to be almost ten years old. Oh wait, I forgot you’re still rocking the “Fallout 1″ desktop.

And you know Dad is right, this is just the start.

Oh Piet, have you never played OFP? The linear campaign was so-so, but the mission editor and user developed mods were what made the game so entertaining, it’s got almost infinite replayability.

From road rage therapy (where you create a traffic jam and then crew an M113 with a Minigun to clear a path) to zombie mayhem (pick the terrain and scenario and add a little logic and WHAMO you’re kicking zombie ass) to just a quick sniper shoot at 1000 yards the game lets you set almost everything out.

I’m presently playing with the zombies combined with the Mogidishu mod for a sort of “Deadhawk Down” scenario. Granted I’ve run into some apperant compatability issues between the mods I’ve cobbled together, but it’s a hoot flying into the market to support the convoy beset by zombies.

I doubt I’ll be giving this game up for a while. It’s always been good for some quick random violence, or long complicated violence. Either way.

As for the sleepovers, no worries. I had almost as much fun as the girls, exhausting but like I said before, Jilly’s enjoyment makes it all worthwhile.

Skip counselling. Just let them make thier money off of Dr. Phil appearances.

ArmA’s out. It’s the even beefier sequel to Operation Flashpoint. I’d suggest checking it out, but as Piet pointed out you’ve still got a Fallout desktop…

Don’t get me wrong, OFP has it’s good points.
I recall spending more then my fair share of time on it.
Wounded, low crawling through the tail end of a mission just so some random “Bad guy” can walk up and execute me comes to mind.
And truth be told, the older games have a higher reply factor.
Diablo, Fallout, Dues Ex are on the top of my list.

Ah the “Sleep over”. I had many fun filled nights making forts out of sofas and blanket, and playing “Combat” on Kevin’s Atari.
    Good times………
