Erik on days !!!! Who would have known ?

I've been on days on for two and a half years. It does get better and eventually you wonder how you ever survived all those night shifts. I have finally adjusted and I am now trying to make contact with all my old friends now that I have time during the day and a computer I can use at work. You may remember just how tight security is at my location (I hesitate to even use the name on the web ).

Your little one is two and half years old; wow, its been a long time between contacts. Edie and I will try to do better.

I found I slept better and a few of those little nagging health issues faded once I found this regular dayshift work. While I miss having time off when no one else does, I feel good knowing I can tell my friends and family that any weekend is good.

Still, once and while I envy Tyler for having Monday to Friday (actually more like Sunday to Thursday) 8 hour only graveyard shifts.

Hehe...Drunks don't typically take as long as administrivia...

The filing has been self-inflicted, there was no mandate from the boss to redo the "old" filing, but as reports were liberally sprinkled hither and thither, and little caches of documents kept being uncovered I felt it best to go through all the historical reports and redo them in a manner that made sense (chronological anyone?). That parts almost done, and it's allowed me to dispose of the caches (as they are found) properly (instead of filing them in the big black plastic lined file that I'd been tempted to store them in).

Unrelated to that has been some codifying of procedures, paperwork and memos. The creation of a small access database to house (pardon the pun) tenant and vehicle information for one of the vehicles laptop has been the most recent endeavor, and I am WAY out of practice with Access, although it's coming back to me fairly quickly.

Up to this last week or so I was handling some of the administrivia while on nights, but obviously this sort of "tertiary" duty is at the mercy of operational matters, and there were some nights I was simply unable to get around to it.

Meh... I don't mind the variety, I just wish the office air conditioning was working properly. It's hard for me to think in the heat, ya know?

Well, personally, I'll take administrivia over dealing with drunks any time.

Perhaps this'll be the start of a trend ... they'll bring you into the office for a week of day shifts once a month, just so you can catch up on the filling that'S piled up since the last time you were on days ... LOL!!
