Frontsight offering free training?

Front Sight is offering free training in exchange for links from bloggers. There are some conditions but Archangel has the scoop here.

Seems fairly simple, copy the links then email them and let them know the url, then keep the links online and receive a free 4 day training certificate for Front Sight (Piet, Nikki…I’m looking at you guys, remember last time?). So, without further ado, here we go.

Piet, Mike if you want in on this the offer expires on Saturday, so it’d be best to get cracking now.

Bats?

I fell asleep on the couch last night watching bad movies on TV. Around 4:00am I awoke suddenly and noticed a small black object swooping around the room, then into the kitchen.

This surprised me less than it might have as Lisa had told me that there was a bird (or bat) trapped in the house a few days ago, which had disappeared into the basement. A fairly detailed search having failed to uncover him, I assumed he’d make a reappearance.

After pulling on my work gloves I opened the front door, blocked the kitchen door off with a blanket, then sat at my desk watching the bat swoop closer and closer to the open door until he flew outside. Piece of cake. What concerns me is that I am almost certain that I saw a second bat swoop back into the basement when I first stumbled bleary-eyed into the kitchen. Is this going to have to become a regular event?

Shooter

Rented Shooter last night. Not without misgivings of course. I’d given this one a miss when it came out in theatres as I quite honestly feared what had been done to Stephen Hunters Point of Impact (The Bourne Identity popping immediately to mind) in it’s transfer to the big screen..

Shooter

I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised. The movie itself was fairly standard action fare, few plot twists that were not telegraphed well ahead of time, but despite that it was an enjoyable film. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t read “Point of Impact” since it first came out, or if I was just enjoying the gun pron but I enjoyed myself.

I’ll be adding it to the DVD collection when the “previously viewed” copies start appearing.

Well, we knew it wouldn’t be a “G” rating…

Online Dating

The link to the blog rating do-dad was found over at RachelLucas.com (Who was added to my Google Reader but not my blogroll a while back, whoops! Now fixed.). I am a little disappointed it was only an “R”, but found it entertaining that “zombie” was a flagged word…

This rating was determined based on the presence of the following words:

* zombie (30x)
* dead (7x)
* gun (5x)
* hell (2x)
* death (1x)

Who knew?

[Edited to add: Hehe, Mikes site gets a "G" rating. Funny!]

Wow…

I know he’s listed on my blogroll but if you’ve not clicked your way on over to A day in the life of an ambulance driver do it now. He’s posted another extremely well written tale from the front lines that had me red-eyed and sniffling by it’s end.

Give him a read, you’ll not regret it.

Ten Commandments for Drivers, Say Uncle Style

The left lane is for passing. Not for teaching me a lesson. So, get out of the way. The only lesson you’re teaching me is that you’re an asshole.

I’d add some stuff but I’m tired and I think he pretty much covers the bases…Read the rest here.
