Smith and Wesson – Model 14

It arrived on Monday, while I was trying to sleep in advance of my first night back to work.

Smith and Wesson Model 14 in .38 special

The pistol and several hundred rounds of ammunition handed to me by generic deliveryperson who seemed entirely nonplussed with the task of handing a rather heavy box to a sleepy, confused looking guy in his underwear. Acquired with the proceeds from the sale of the Anti-Zombie rifle, the Model 14 is my first revolver, and bears more than a passing resemblance to the first handgun I ever fired.

I’ve long wanted to add a revolver to my little collection, but never seemed to come across a “basic” revolver. This is certainly basic. A “K” frame Smith and Wesson, chambered for .38 Special and with a 6″ barrel, it is an almost entirely generic example of a “service” style revolver.

I’ve not had it out to the range yet, so no real impressions of consequence.

Ayup, still alive…

I know I’ve been rather silent of late, and once again I apologize.

We’ve had my brother and his wife visit from Texas (more on that in a later post), my S&W Model 14 arrived (more on that in a later post), we’ve got oodles of Jilly snapshots (ibid), some more zombie movies have arrived and are being processed (ibid) and some more firearms departures and arrivals are due any time now (ibid).

My cold/flu/projectile leprosy appears to have broken, and I have slightly more energy than has been typical of late.

I hope to make up for lost time over the next week.

A new home…

PDB has had it with his old host and has moved to his own domain at PapaDeltaBravo.com, the look has changed but the content holds to the previous standards.

Swing by and take a peek.

A little overdue perhaps…

Ok, I’ve been more than a little silent of late. I’d blame the cold/flu/malaise that seems to have me in it’s grasp but that’s not entirely accurate. I’d continue to blame the commute, which when combined with the already mentioned illness seems to suck what little energy I have away from me with startling ferocity, but that’s not absolutely correct either.

I’d blame work, with the corporate absorbtion well in swing making things both a little more chaotic and more than a little less rewarding, and here I think we’re scoring closer to the mark. When combined with all else that is going on it’s this last one that seems to rob me of the little will I have left recently.

My condition is not fatal, just tiring. Hang in there folks, I am.

Other minor updates?

I’m in the process of selling off the Anti-zombie rifle, except the buyer has disappeared mid transaction (and will hopefully reappear shortly), have bought a Smith and Wesson Model 14 in .38 Special and am awaiting delivery (I’ve always wanted a wheelgun), and am in the midst of trading off my CZ52 for a shotgun with Mike as his new range only allows handguns.

Expect some gun pron as the new arrivals begin to show up.

[Edit: Blog and you shall receive. The SKS-AZR is officially gone.]
