Is this wrong?

I mentioned that when I experimented with the calendars I tried some other stuff, right? No?
Ok then, this is Jilly in her “I survived the zombocalypse and all I got was this lousy t-shirt” shirt. I know, I know…I’m having way too much fun with this stuff.
[Yes, that would be her expression for "Daddy, you are beginning to try my patience."]

Evil rifles?
My brother Piet has posted a pic of the evilist rifle he owns, the famous AK-47. He was kind enough to include a few pics of the front lower handguard and a retaining spring used to keep the handguard in place, he did this because the handguard on my VZ58 has been working itself loose recently.
As a side effect however I got to drool all over my keyboard at his personal example of Mikhail Kalashnikovs design (that the photos were well done doesn’t hurt at all either). So in Response to his post, I give you some gratuitous gun pron of my own, some photos of the VZ58 for comparison purposes (excuse the poor lighting).

The VZ58 is no AK47, while it uses the same ammunition and has a passing resemblance to it’s more famous cousin the VZ58 is an entirely different rifle.

New to the blogroll are…
6 Beer Curfew – My brothers new blog, keep in mind he’s still experimenting with WordPress, so if the alignment appears wonky, it’s likely just some fine tuning behind the scenes. He’s promised us some gun pron in the very near future, and his toys are much more evil looking than my own.
A day in the life of an ambulance driver – Link found over at VFTP, This one had me laughing almost non-stop. Must be that whole “I want to be a paramedic” thing I got going on here. Swing by and give him a read, you’ll not regret it.

Zombie Apocalypse Motivational Calendars
I recently experimented with some calendar creation over at Cafepress.com and Lulu.com. Ordered a copy of the calendar from each, and am now prepared to offer my opinions on them both.

The calendars are essentially identical (although the sequence of the Zombie Motivational Posters varies slightly between the two – Whoops!) but in the end I would have to recommend Lulu.com for two specific reasons;
The first is cost, the calendar from Lulu costs slightly less than it’s cafepress counterpart (Cafepress $15.49 vs. Lulu $13.00). The second reason is that Lulu allows you to add “custom dates” whilst creating your calendar, so its version of the calendar includes a few dozen significant dates for zombie movie enthusiasts.
I wanted one for my wall, you are under no obligation to buy one of course.
[It's a nifty concept, if you have a few images and the inclination I'd highly recommend creating your own custom calendar. It beats some sort of generic calendar with insurance/dental/automotive repair advertising scattered throughout. Thinking about it, I may have to troll my pictures directory and see if I have enough gun pron to put a calendar together for 2008!]

Pseudo-Vacation
With the absorbtion of my employer now in full swing and the payroll systems switching over I recently discovered I had almost two weeks vacation accumulated under the old payroll system. I immediately threw in a vacation request for my next block of 4 on. This week I was scheduled to have Weds, Thurs and Fri off then back for four night shifts Sat-Tues, then three more nights off.
This is perhaps one of the few perks of shift work. By taking four nights off I get myself a little ten day vacation.
Plans? Not many. Some time with Jilly, some time not spent driving along the 401, maybe some wiring and a few little “catch-up” projects around the house (mainly wiring, damn that Lath and Plaster makes wiring a headache!).
Updates posted as I have them.
