Tam has a pic of Winnie the Pooh done by a friend, it appears to have documented Winnies efforts at Isandlwana, but I can’t seem to find that particular story by A.A. Milne.
Swing by and give it a peek.

We arose early this morning, on the road at 0630, Tim Hortons Double-Doubles in hand at 0640, and arriving at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market at 0700hrs. Jilly was impressed with the volume of activity in the early morning darkness, and easily could have spent the entire time kneeling on the second floor looking down on the little people scurrying around on the ground floor.
Myself I couldn’t help but think how much the whole thing had changed since I had last been there (and I’m pretty sure that was in the 80′s anyway). All I remember was a huge, unheated shed with a concrete floor and row after row of vendors. Everything from Summer Sausage to cheap Chinese wallets could be found.
These days the digs are a little more upscale, the interior vendors seem more “touristy” but the same old stuff is being flogged in the “flea market” next door, and along the outside perimeter of the famers market.
Anyway, my impressions aside. We scored some proper Summer Sausage which should last us until tommorow, and a few other minor odds and sods.
Nifty trip.

I’d never heard of these guys before they showed up in my referral logs, but when I followed the link back I found they had reviewed me, saying the following;
This is one of those scary, quirky people that you almost wish you knew. But you’re still glad you don’t.
I’m thinking that’s not so very positive.

Today I took a little time for me. Driving Lisa to work in the morning, then dropping Jilly at Daycare I rushed home and began scurrying around assembling everything I’d need for a few hours at the range. Nothing fancy, just wanted a chance to confirm I could still shoot, dragging the AR15, VZ58 and the Sig P220 along as witnesses.

Nope, I am not talking about my refusal to admit that I have problems (or maybe I am come to think of it), more thinking about the fact that since the move I really have had little time for some of my favorite past times. Since we moved to the new digs I have;
Entirely failed to make it to the range even ONCE (although I did renew my range membership last month, thankfully!) – Resolved Dec 15/06.
- Written only one zombie movie review,
and acquired only a couple new zombie movie DVDs. (Resolved thanks to Christmas gifts)
- Have only once raided the scotch that sits on my shelf.
- Rarely made it over to my favorite online haunt The Zombie Squad Forums.
It’s not new years yet, but I’m making a resolution now none the less. I will seek to rectify these issues in a systematic manner, reclaiming my hobbies as soon as humanly possible (although it occurs to me the holidays may not be the best time to try this).
[In unrelated news the non-smoking thing is still going well. Lisa and I have both given up cigarettes for over a month, although I admit I am cheating and am now smoking a pack of "Colts Mild" every two to four days.]

WTF?
Typically I get between 25-50 pieces of comment spam every 24 hours these days. Almost without exception my anti-spam (Akismet) plugin stops them cold. Yesterday I checked the comment spam queue out of curiousity and found 524 of them sitting in there.
Anyone else noticed a spike recently?
As a side note, not one managed to slip past Akismet. It’s nice not to have to devote oodles of time to comment spam anymore.

Hot Fuzz the upcoming Brit cop comedy starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost has a full length trailer out now (as opposed to the “teaser” trailers that were available before), it looks fantastic!
Do yourself a favour and check it out RIGHT NOW!
As I was just saying in comments to Boydfish, I haven’t looked forward to the release of a film this much in ages. Going to have to pop some more offerings onto the shrine I’ve built worshipping Pegg/Frost.
[Update: North American release slated for early March 2007, early review of the not quite finished film online here.
Update #2: Grifter has a link to a copy of the trailer available on Youtube. Much easier to view for those at work.]

The Peter Principle was put forward by Doctor Laurence J. Peter in his 1968 book of the same title.
“In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence”
I’m finding myself being reminded of this concept daily at work with the takeover of our small company still in progress. I’m afraid my time there feels rather limited, and no longer just because of the commute involved in getting there.
