New firearms? Czech!

Published by Mugwug under Firearms

New additions arrived today finalizing the trade for the FrankenGarand. Top is the Czech VZ58 Rifle and bottom is the CZ52 pistol.

VZ58 Rifle and CZ52 Pistol

I was loathe to part with the FG, but moneys still tight, and she had become a safe queen in a very short period of time. I’m sure I’ll be building another FG before too much time has passed, in the meantime I can amuse myself with the much cheaper to feed 7.62×39mm VZ58.

Ok, I’ve been waiting up for the mailman all morning, and I’ve got to get some sleep before my night shift.

Zombie Squad Forums Down (Temporarily)

Published by Mugwug under General

Dammit, I should have put a note up here sooner. They’re transfering the forums to the new host, be patient they’ll be back online very soon.

I always know when the forums have gone down as my referrer logs show a massive increase in traffic from the Zombie Squad links page (I always assumed it was other forum junkies looking for their fix).

Have patience. It’s worth waiting for. In the meantime Hotel 23 is welcoming ZS refugees with open arms, drop in and get your forum fix there.

[Edited to add a link to H23, thanks Grif!]

[Further edited to add "They're back up! Disregard this post!"]

A minority Conservative government…

Published by Mugwug under Politics

..and they didWell there you have it. The Conservatives picked up 124 seats to the Liberals 103, with the Bloc and the NDP grabbing 51 and 29 respectively.

A minority government, I’m sure Canadians are wondering just how long it will be before we are back to the polls.

Congratulations Mr. Harper, goodbye Mr. Martin.

Ah, this is it. Our Election.

Published by Mugwug under Politics

It’s the day. If you’re a gun owner you’ve probably made up your mind (if not cast your ballot) already, if you’re one of the much dicussed “undecideds” then I sypathize with you. My only suggestion is go down to the polling station and vote your conscience.

I’m not going to rant and rave about societal obligation and participation in our electoral system (hell, I’ve spoiled more ballots than I have ever completed), do what you think is right (even if that is nothing).

I’ve cast my ballot, the rest is out of my hands. I wait only to find out how badly the liberals are defeated and to see how my favorite politician (Belinda Stronach) fares in her own riding.

On Liberals and Confiscation…

Published by Mugwug under Politics

The all candidates debate at the Pembroke Outdoor Sportsman’s Club turned a little ugly when one of the club members had the audacity to ask;

“If the handgun ban goes forward. What plan would your party offer to compensate those of us who legally own the guns that would be confiscated?”

A fair enough question given the fact the Liberals have made a lot of noise about their handgun ban. The response from Liberal candidate Don Lindsay was less than polished however;

“Sir America is our neighbor not our nation, if you elect a society that talks about that kind of perspective I suggest that perhaps you go there!”

Nice. Not that I was expecting any empathy from a politician (a liberal one at that), but scorn goes a little far.

Vote early, vote often…

Published by Mugwug under Politics

Oh sure we joke about it, but some people actually do it.

..Despite checking less than half the polls, here are some irregularities that have been identified:

  • Almost 100 apparently nonexistent addresses in Edmonton’s downtown core - in some cases, the addresses listed fictional residences in between two genuine buildings
  • Hundreds of people registered to vote out of their law offices, medical offices, accounting offices, and Government of Canada offices - in some cases these may be genuine errors, but in other cases, entire families are registered to vote out of high rise office space
  • Dozens of people registered to vote out of office towers, but who did not list a suite number, causing the address to read similarly to ordinary residences - in many cases, these people are also registered to vote in other ridings using their home addresses, and in other cases, voters living in other ridings are only registered in Edmonton Centre
  • Dozens of people registered to vote out of small mail box locations and from self-storage yards - there is no legitimate way for a person to appear on the list of Electors from a self-storage yard
  • Eighteen people registered to vote out of a truck stop
  • People registered to vote out of karaoke bars, lingerie stores, dance lounges, galleries, etc…

Evidence of Voter fraud in Edmonton Centre, Small Dead Animals has the full story.

Find those who voted more than once, prosecute them, then force them to serve their community hours assisting the Green Party with administrative tasks.
